Viacom18, the entertainment conglomerate, announced the debut of Sports18, the network’s dedicated sports broadcasting channel, on Friday. The pay-TV channel, which will be accessible in SD and HD, will provide Indian sports lovers with the best-in-class content. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, NBA, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Abu Dhabi T10, and key ATP and BWF events will all be hosted by Sports18.
Aside from great picks from the worlds of football, basketball, tennis, cricket, and badminton, the channel will offer top content in the areas of worldwide sports news, magazines, and highlights shows.

In a statement, Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj said, “We are excited to create a dedicated sports channel for an audience across demographics and countries.”
“Sports18 will seek to be India’s most prized broadcast network by offering fans with simple access to a diverse array of international and premier sports content,” says the company. According to insiders, the network entered the sports business with a focus on the lucrative Indian Premier League.
“Viacom18 has purchased the IPL media rights bid paperwork and might be a significant challenger in the TV or digital market,” a source close to the league told PTI.
