PLA Galwan Commander honored as Winter Olympic 2022 Torchbearer

The People Liberation Army’s (PLA) commander Qi Fabao was honored as Winter Olympics Torchbearer by the Chinese Government. He was involved in Galwan Valley Clash with the Indian Army on June 15, 2020. He was honored on Wednesday in a torch relay with more than 1200 torchbearers. The Winter Olympics will be commenced on Friday in Beijing. The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and around five Central Asian Presidents and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. More than a dozen of World Leaders will also attend the Opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

PLA commander was involved in Galwan Clash 

The said Galwan commander was involved in the Galwan Clash that has happened on June 15, 2020, with the Indian Armed forces. He was also honored by the Chinese Military. He has sustained a head injury during Galwan Valley clashes. He was chosen for the Winter Olympics torch-bearing ceremony. This is also important to note that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is also invited along with five central Asian Leaders. Till now, there is no information about the involvement of any Indian leaders in the opening ceremony. 

The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics will be conducted on Friday in a ravishing style. The Chinese Government’s mouthpiece Global Times stated that the PLA commander has taken the flame from Wang Meng, a four-time Olympics short track speed skating champion for China, at Winter Olympic Park. The opening ceremony of the Olympics will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and around five Central Asian Presidents and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. More than a dozen of World Leaders will also attend the Opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

China has criticized Westen Countries

Earlier, China has criticized Western countries for politicizing the Winter Games as their officials are not participating in the opening ceremony over the human rights violation in Xinjiang, but their athletes are still participating in winter games.
