The Press Association condemns a journalist’s ‘beating’ at an Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann event

Press Association condemns the action of Authorities allegedly roughed up a journalist during a recent news conference of the Delhi and Punjab chief ministers. The Press Association has sought a thorough inquiry and firm action against those guilty for the April 26 event in a statement released here.

Press Members filed a case at Police Station

Naresh Vats, a Hindustan Post correspondent, has filed a complaint with the Parliament Street police station, alleging that authorities refused to accept the Press Information Bureau’s accreditation card and denied him access to the press conference conducted by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. 

Mr. Vats said in his lawsuit that security officers at the venue assaulted him after he questioned their decision to deny him access to the press conference.

“Journalist harassment has recently been reported in a number of states run by parties of all stripes. Journalists’ rights are being violated as a result of such instances “C K Nayak, president of the Press Association, stated.
