Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit appointed as JNU VC

Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) by President Ramnath Kovind in his capacity as a visitor. She was appointed as the post was going to vacate by acting JNU VC Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. Last week, Jagadesh Kumar was appointed as UGC Chairperson. Santishree Pandit released a statement after taking charge of VC on Monday. She said the JNU would strive to implement the National Education Policy keeping the vision of the Prime Minister and the focus would be on constructing Indo-centric narratives.

Pandit seems to be very active in the office as hours after taking charge, she started work on creating a team with Professor Ajay Kumar Dubey (Centre of African Studies) being appointed as new Rector. The appointment has been issued through an office order from Registrar.

Santishree is an alumnus of JNU

She is an alumna of JNU. She had pursued her MPhil and PhD in international relations. Her thesis was Parliament and Foreign Policy in India – The Nehru years. She began her teaching career at Goa University in 1988 and then she moved to Pune University in 1993.

Santishree Pandit met ABVP office-bearers

After taking charge as vice-chancellor of the most prestigious university, she met the office-bearers of Student Unions (all from ABVP) and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers. She released the statement that says that she is thankful to the Prime Minister and Minister of Higher education for her this opportunity to become the first woman and alumnus of esteemed University from State of Tamil nadu.

“We would strive to implement NEP 2020 the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister especially in interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary areas of studies, JNU rising to greater heights of academics and research. The focus would in constructing Indo-centric narratives. I look forward to working with students, faculty and staff to contribute in achieving these objectives,” she added.
