CJI Ramana introduces ‘FASTER’ software for quick transmission of judicial orders

CJI N.V. Ramana introduced software on March 31 to send court orders quickly and securely via electronic mode, a step that will aid in judicial order communication. The online introduction of the Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records (FASTER) software was attended by CJI Ramana, Justices A.M. Khanwilkar, D.Y. Chandrachud, and Hemant Gupta, as well as Chief Justices and Judges of high courts.

CJI said court must be conveyed safely

“Orders issued by the Supreme Court and other high courts must be conveyed safely and without third-party influence.” We’ve named 73 nodal officers at the HC level, as well as jail officials who were chosen through a judicial communication network. He stated, “A secure gateway email id has been set up.”

“These nodal officers have a total of 1,887 email addresses spread around the country.” FASTER will communicate bail orders and will include the digital signatures of SC officers for authentication. “All communication is limited to email id holders, ensuring confidentiality, safety, and security,” said CJI Ramana.

FASTER was established when a bench led by CJI Ramana took suo moto notice of delays in convicts’ release even after they had been granted bail, citing reasons such as non-receipt or non-verification of legal orders.
