NITI Aayog asserted that enhancing the rural economy will make India a global leader

According to NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar, India has the capacity to become a global leader by realizing the full potential of its rural economy.

“Futuristic technologies like 5G, AI, and robotics can help achieve the country’s aim of becoming a world leader at a much faster speed,” he stated on Monday at the AI & Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK), a city-based not-for-profit foundation, promoted by IISc and backed by AI Foundry.

ARTPARK working under Niti Aayog plan

“Under our NITI Atal Innovation Mission (plan introduced by Niti Aayog), we are already working with ARTPARK and supporting innovative entrepreneurs that are solving the essential problem of bringing connectivity to rural areas and enabling equitable healthcare and education,” Mr. Kumar continued.

C. N. Ashwath Narayan, Karnataka’s Minister for Information Technology, Biotechnology, Science and Technology, and Higher Education, spoke at the start of the one-day summit, saying that the ARTPARK initiative would help the country’s youth outside of urban India not only access next-generation digital opportunities, but also acquire the skills they need to thrive in an AI-driven future.

“How can we bring the benefits of AI and robotics technology to Bharat to create the next wave of jobs after the IT and BPO waves?” the Minister remarked.

“Digital and physical connectivity technologies are vital to India’s progress and Atmanirbhar goal,” stated S. Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology. The Department of Science and Technology’s NM-ICPS objective is attempting an innovative strategy to fast accelerate ideas vital and strategic to India’s future economy by bringing together industry, academia, and government in an open innovation network.”

Prof. Rangarajan, Director, IISc, and Chair of the Board of Directors of ARTPARK, stated that ARTPARK was established to leverage technology, notably artificial intelligence and robotics, for the good of the country.

“It gives me great pleasure to watch how we are attempting to use technology to link the disconnected in sectors as diverse as education and healthcare.” IISc is at the forefront of research in cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and unmanned aerial vehicles, and ARTPARK is using that expertise to build a better India for the future,” he added.

“At ARTPARK, we are harnessing the potential of AI and Robotics to alter every sector of human endeavor: specifically next-generation mobility, education, employment, and the construction of smart, sustainable villages,” stated Umakant Soni, CEO of ARTPARK, when asked about the economic impact of innovation.

According to PwC research, AI-driven innovations have the potential to generate $15.7 trillion in economic value globally. On the IISc campus, an ARTPARK Innovation Lab was also inaugurated. Innovators will use the Lab to produce essential pieces of technology that will power Atmanirbhar Bharat.
