Gati Shakti: PM Modi urges states and businesses to embrace Gati Shakti

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged state governments and businesses to use the Gati Shakti platform to plan infrastructure projects and build special economic zones.

The government launched the PM Gati Shakti program in October of last year, under which a portal would be established to bring together 16 Ministries for integrated planning and implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects. By the end of March, the portal should be ready.

“More than 400 data layers are now available on the platform, which includes information on not just existing and potential infrastructure projects, but also forest land and available industrial estate,” the Prime Minister remarked during a Commerce Ministry post-Budget webinar on Gati Shakti.

He claimed that the government’s spending on infrastructure development has quadrupled during 2013-2014.

“The government of India spent roughly 1.75 lakh crore rupees on direct capital expenditure in 2013-14, which has climbed to Rs 7.5 lakh crore in 2022-23. As a result, more money will be invested and more jobs will be created “According to the Prime Minister.

He added that the Unified Logistic Interface Platform (ULIP) will also combine 24 digital systems from six ministries, assisting in the reduction of logistics expenses in the country, which he said were currently at 13-14 percent of GDP, far more than in some affluent countries.
