Russia claims that China is refusing to deliver airplane parts as a result of the sanctions

After Boeing and Airbus halted the supply of components, China has refused to supply Russian airlines with airplane parts, according to a Moscow aviation official quoted by Russian news outlets on Thursday. Western sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine are putting pressure on Moscow’s aviation sector, with Russia’s foreign ministry warning this week that the safety of Moscow passenger aircraft was in jeopardy.

After a failed attempt to secure components from China, Valery Kudinov, a Rosaviatsia officer in charge of maintaining airplane airworthiness, was quoted by Interfax as saying that Moscow will search for opportunities to source parts from nations such as Turkey and India.

US and EU have sanctioned Russia

He also stated that, after the United States and European Union’s aviation sanctions, Moscow’s corporations are registering their planes in Moscow, many of which had previously been registered abroad, and that he expects them to be returned to leasing companies.

Separately, according to a draught law issued on Thursday, Moscow intends to require domestic airlines to pay for leased aircraft in roubles and may prevent them from returning jets to foreign corporations if leases are canceled.
