HELINA anti-tank guided missile: On April 11, 2022, the Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’ was successfully flight-tested at high-altitude ranges from an indigenously-developed helicopter. As part of the user validation trials, scientists from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force conducted a flight test.

The missile was successfully fired at a simulated tank target during the flight trials, which were conducted from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). An Infrared Imaging Seeker (IIR) operating in the Lock on Before Launch mode guides the missile. It is one of the world’s most advanced anti-tank weapons.

Proof of efficacy at high altitudes, in addition to the Pokhran validation trials, paves the way for its integration into ALH. Senior Army commanders and DRDO scientists were present during the trials.

Mantri Raksha Mantri Raksha Mantri Raksha Man Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Army on their first joint achievement.
